USER EXPERIENCE DESIGN
We don’t build websites, we create experiences.
UX stands for ‘User Experience ’ – UX design refers to the process used to determine what it’s like for someone who interacts with your product or service.
ART VS SCIENCE
What is UX design?
User Experience design is about considering the goals of specific users and carefully designing each and every part of a digital product to help them accomplish their goal. This often results in a more deliberate design process – it’s data-driven and backed by insights and research. User Experience designers are responsible for making websites easy (and enjoyable) to use. It’s about making people feel a certain way when they interact with your product.
A lack of UX design results in websites that are annoying, confusing or frustrating for people to use. Have you ever been on a website and asked yourself: Why is this form so long? Why on earth are these pages organised this way? Why can’t I find the damn menu on this restaurant website?
UX design is more of a science than an art. It’s not about merely decorating or making things look pretty – it’s about behaviour, psychology and results.
“Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works.”
– Steve Jobs
THE PEOPLE’S CHAMPION
It’s all about the users
Users are the people who interact with your product or service.
UX designers believe it’s absolutely critical to consider the users’ needs above all other stakeholders, from the very beginning of the design process. At Pixel Palace, we spend time researching everything there is to know about your users, and we focus on designing your website around your users’ goals.
Designing user interfaces (UI) for humans to use isn’t as easy as it sounds! That’s why we test our solutions with real people, to make sure they are as usable and engaging as possible.
Our UX design process
WHERE THE MAGIC HAPPENS
1. Research
First, we identify all key stakeholders and define the goals of the primary users. We’ll help you determine the purpose of your project, and exactly what problems it will solve.
2. Plan
Here we brainstorm ways your users will accomplish their goals, creating user stories, and journey maps to identify the most critical actions and pathways.
3. Explore
Here’s where your project starts to really take shape! We’ll execute fast, iterative wireframing and prototyping to get our ideas into something we can see, use and test as quickly as possible.
4. Organise
Optimising the structure of your website. We’ll organise your navigation and pages into a strong and consistent hierarchy. This process is called information architecture.
5. Create
This is where the real fun begins! Here we’ll finalise layouts, fonts, styles, micro-interactions, animations, UI, images, and any other part of the visual design!
6. Test
To ensure your project experience is top notch, we’ll test the final product with real users to make sure everything flows smoothly. Tweaks are made if anything needs to be improved.
How can UX design help my business?
A frustrated user will not only leave your website, they will never visit it ever again (unless they’re forced to). On the other hand, a satisfied, joyous, engaged user will return again and again, and probably tell their friends about you. This is why spending more for a well-designed website is in your best interest.
When we design your site, we’ll carefully consider all the aspects of user experience and use industry-leading techniques and tools to make it as positive as can be! Users will never get confused, lost or frustrated using a Pixel Palace website. Instead, they will feel appreciated, happy and in control.
